Cochlear Implantation. Panacea? Hardly…

The fact that cochlear implantation can not always can solve a relative deafness problem, is spoken of a lot. But, wandering on thematic forums, I often come across the opinion that cochlear implantation is almost a panacea. It is especially “respected” by late hard of hearing people with neuro sensor relative deafness and thus not using hearing aids. Such position is not absolute contra-indication to cochlear implantations. But at takeoff for the operation, the above listed will considerably lower a probability of the positive decision of the medical commission.
How are the patients selected for the operation for cochlear implantation insertion? The whole list with the list of patients with the various nature of relative deafness is made with their age indication. Getting a grasp of this list, the soul rejoices that it is extensive enough and there is a possibility, especially for children, to get under a category requiring a cochlear implantations and those whose operation will be paid by the state.

Operation is an operation, but many questions arise at times.
After all operation on cochlear implantations is not only invasive, that is it is connected with penetration to an organism. It, besides, is conducted in affinity to a brain and on such departments of an ear which are very much different at people.
Ask any ENT-DOCTOR, is an access to anturum much complicated? Foreign experts say about problems of occurrence of intrahospital infections after CI operation, but, most likely, manufacturers of devices “wipe up” these remarks. And so, a question is: what is going on in hospitals with the risk of development of an intrahospital infection and what preventive measures can be done? I will explain: intrahospital infections are not only an infectious disease weeping directly in a hospital. The remote displays of infections are also included in intrahospital infections if they have developed against the former interventions.

And so, whether it is fashionably to hope, that experts who will help the person to return to the hearing world are experts? I know several people who have CI and… Not using this system. Simply because work on ability to hear by means of CI was done “somehow”. A surdologist worked with one, adult woman. A good expert, the competent doctor. But he is surdologist that is, the expert in the diseases connected with problems of hearing. And here specialization in speech therapy is not present. And after all it is necessary not only to learn to use the implanted system. It is necessary to adjust it – system is thin, and demands a permanent job. With each lesson a person should rise to a new level of ability to listen, to analyze. And each new ability demands new fine tuning of cochlear implantation.
I do not pursue the aim to blacken an excellent method. Simply, the more you go deep into this theme, the big there is a desire to take advantage of CI system. But, as the physician, I can look at this method a little on the other hand and see a problem there where it will be not seen by the person, not specialist.
